Why Japanese Live So Long ★ ONLY in JAPAN

So you want to live to be 100? The answers to living a long and happy life may come from Japan which has the longest average life expectancy in the world (83.84 years) and where 2 million people are over the age of 90. Believe it or not, 6 of the top 10 oldest people alive are from Japan including Nabi Tajima of Kagoshima who is 117 years old and the last human alive born in the 19th century! How did so many Japanese get to live so long? What are some of the things Japanese do right? In this episode, John travels to Tottori Prefecture to the area around Mt Daisen where his friend Tomiko-san gives him some advice about how to live a long life and how she's lived to be 106 years old and still working on the farm! Her secret? Tofu. She started to make tofu in the 1950s when doctors said residents had to reduce high blood pressure. She made her own tofu for her family and her diet combined with good habits including staying busy and working hard have strengthened her mind and body. She still walks and writes tanka poetry. I also ask Mr. Seiichi, my 97 year old Japanese neighbor his secret and hear from a Shinto priest about his thoughts and personal experiences with living a very long and happy life in Japan. It's impossible to say exactly what has led to Japan having the longest average life expectancy in the world but these things may help: ★ Green Tea ★ Less fatty foods ★ Seafood ★ Fermented foods ★ Bath culture / Hot Springs & Onsen ★ Smaller portions ★ Education on personal responsibility ★ National safety / low crime rates ★ Respect for the Elderly (It's a national holiday too!) ★ DNA Special thank you to Daisen Town & Yonago City in Tottori Prefecture for the help. Daisen is celebrating its 1300th anniversary this year and you're invited to the party in June 2018! http://www.daisen1300.org/ Music credits: Always thankful for TeknoAXE (Matthew Huffaker) Songs: Granny Jenkins / Harassing the Mailman https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtgf00GvfFQVsYBA7V7RwUw The video was produced and created by John Daub. 10 Must Know JAPAN Travel Tips No One Talks about ...like POLICE

These Top 10 Japan Travel Tips are based on what I wish I knew before moving to Japan. This serves as a Japan Guide for travelers planning Japan travel and what to do when stopped by a Japanese Police officer. This Tokyo guide also shows what not do in Japan as well as things not do in Japan based on Japanese culture. These Japanese Travel Tips cover Tattoos in a Japanese Onsen, Non-tipping culture, riding the train in Japan, Wifi in Japan, Japanese Hotels, Japanese Police, etc. Basically, these are the things to know before going to Japan. More information is listed below. You can go to most major electronics store and they should carry it. There are a few options, but I’ll cover the 2 basic types that I think is the best for travelers. (1) SIM card with a daily data transfer limits 220mb per day. You can get it for 7 days or 15 days. (2) SIM cards with a total data transfer limit of 1.5 Gb or 3GB that work for 30 day period. It doesn’t have a daily transfer limit which I personally prefer. And if I use up all the data in only a few days, you can just buy a new card. (* Note that the prices and data plans are always changing so depending on when you see this video, prices might have already changed. ) 7:39 #6 Smoking in Japan - https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2018/06/27/national/tokyo-lawmakers-approve-anti-smoking-ordinance-capital-gears-2020-olympics/#.W4jJC9gzbUI 9:18 #7 Riding the Train 10:16 #8 Non-Tipping Culture 11:52 #9 Hotel Fees in Japan 12:52 #10 Police in Japan ----- Channel Support ----- Want to help SUPPORT my channel or wanna buy me a BEER?

"It was ordinary life." Masami-san smiled, looking back her grand life of 99 years. She started working from 8 years old, living away from her parents and just worked hard. We deeply learn what Life is really about, not only the surface. She lives thanking for peaceful daily life. Our team especially tries to focus on eccentric, lovely but “Rock” ladies above the age of 80, who have lived through World War Two. We interview them with great care, and through their recipes which represents the relationships they share with those they care about, we are able to uncover great depth in their life stories. We want to spread those stories to the young generations living today. We believe that if we can share the stories of those beautiful and loving ladies to the world, regardless of borders and languages, people may appreciate even the dinner table just a little bit more. Everyone was laughing at his HOUSE, until they went inside...

10 TINIEST HOMES OF ALL TIME One of the slogans of the Swedish company IKEA urges to think boldly. However, it would rather seem that they are far from bold thinking when all their proposals for interior design are limited to the principles of comfort and practicality. The heroes of our next video are not afraid to make bold decisions – They build houses on the water or even take them on the road with them. With that said, check out our top 8 smallest and the most comfortable houses. GREDIT: 1. Tokidoki Traveller https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAKZ2vtm_-hfqeCGTNNbZqA 2. School Lunch in Japan - It's Not Just About Eating!

Get inspired to see how Japanese students operate their lunch period! You can see why "lunch period" is placed as a learning period in Japanese schools. Directed, edited and filmed by Atsuko Satake Quirk, Cafeteria Culture's media director. Visit www.cafeteriaculture.org to see how we bring in this Japanese style student-led operation into US school cafeterias on sorting their waste!

This is an inside look of a typical Japanese family's house in Tokyo Japan. This is a very common home in Tokyo. Unlike many people who rent Tokyo Apartments, this is a rented Tokyo House. The design of the Tokyo Home is very similar to other Japan homes except maybe the basement and attic.
